Should the questioner believe the soothsayer and become an infidel, or refuse and live in misery that could destroy her home, given her suffering from falling asleep when reading the Quran and being unable to pray, along with her desire to preserve her home, her religion, and her prayers?

Negligence in prayer is a serious matter. It is not permissible to accuse anyone of sorcery without proof, and you erred by going to soothsayers, for visiting them is forbidden by Islamic law. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever goes to a soothsayer and asks him about something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days," and: "He is not one of us who practices or seeks omens, or practices or seeks divination, or practices or seeks sorcery. And whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad." The cure for sorcery is through maintaining regular remembrance of Allah (dhikr) and lawful incantations (ruqya) with reliance upon Allah. There is no harm in consulting someone who is known to cure sorcery through lawful methods and is trustworthy. Not every disagreement or lack of understanding between spouses is caused by sorcery.
