Is comprehensive car insurance permissible or forbidden?

It is permissible to insure cars with cooperative insurance companies, whether it is comprehensive or third-party insurance. However, it is not permissible with traditional commercial insurance companies that are based on gharar (uncertainty), gambling, and riba (interest). If a person is compelled to obtain insurance in a country where Islamic insurance is not available, then it is permissible for him to get insurance to the extent of necessity. If the official authority deems third-party insurance sufficient, then one must limit themselves to it.
