What is the ruling on a sick person smelling a wolf's hide, claiming it reveals the presence or absence of jinn?

The exorcist's use of a wolf skin for the afflicted person to smell, in order to diagnose their affliction with madness, is sorcery and a corrupt belief that is impermissible. It must be completely prohibited. The saying that the jinn fear wolves has no basis.
