What is the ruling on performing ablution with hot water?

There is no harm in performing ablution with hot water. However, if the water is excessively hot, it is permissible though disliked, because it harms the skin. There was an old disagreement regarding whether heated water can remove ritual impurity or not. The correct view is that it does remove impurity, and it becomes essential in cold countries. Nevertheless, it is disliked if heated with impure fuel.
