Which insects are considered impure (najis), what are the conditions for their impurity, and do they render food or drink impure if they fall into it?

Insects like bees and flies are not impure, and their death does not render food or drink into which they fall impure. This is the view of the majority of scholars, based on the hadith: "If a fly falls into the drink of one of you, he should dip it completely, then remove it, for in one of its wings there is a disease and in the other there is a cure."

As for insects that originate from impurity, such as cockroaches and worms, scholars differ regarding their impurity. It is preferable to avoid them to steer clear of dispute.
