What is meant by the wild donkey, the eating of which is permissible: Is it the well-known striped wild donkey or the donkey that is wild by nature?

It is permissible to eat the meat of the wild donkey, and this has been established in the Prophetic Sunnah (definition); for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his companions ate from it and affirmed its permissibility. As for domestic donkeys, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade them on the day of Khaybar. They differ from the wild donkey in size, color, and habitat, despite their general similarity in creation. The striped donkey is one of the many types of wild donkeys.
