It is impermissible to eat the meat of domestic donkeys, due to the prohibition of the Prophet (peace be upon him) concerning them. This ruling does not change if domestic donkeys become wild. However, it is permissible to eat the meat of wild donkeys, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) allowed their consumption. If a domestic donkey mounts a mare, or a mare mounts a domestic jenny, it is not permissible to eat what is produced between them, for anything that involves a domestic donkey is not permissible to eat. However, if a wild donkey mounts a mare, or a mare mounts a wild jenny, then it is permissible to eat their offspring.
