One must immediately abandon unlawful work and seek other employment, for "whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect." Living on charity is better than living on a salary from unlawful work. Many people engage in unlawful professions under the pretext that there is no alternative with the same high salary. Fear Allah and strive to find lawful work, and Allah will provide you with what suffices you, and you will not die before completing your provision.
