The answer

If you are with another traveler and you pray in congregation, or you miss the congregational prayer due to an impediment, then it is permissible for you to shorten the four-rak'ah prayers and combine Dhuhr and Asr, and Maghrib and Isha for two or three days, due to what has been authentically narrated concerning the Prophet's actions (peace be upon him) in the Battle of Tabuk. However, if you are not with a traveler who prays shortened prayers with you, then it is obligatory for you to pray with the Muslim congregation and complete the prayer, because performing the prayer with the congregation is obligatory, and shortening it is a recommendation.
