What is the ruling on someone who says: "Every time I marry a woman, it is a divorce," meaning by divorce the triple divorce, and by "woman" he means all women whom it is lawful for him to marry, and he is of the Hanafi school of thought? And is it true to say that "he marries a woman and divorce occurs, then he marries another and divorce does not occur"?

The Maliki school of thought holds that if someone says, "Every woman I marry is divorced," in a general statement, there is no sin upon him in marrying, and his wife will not be divorced because of his statement. It is narrated in the Mudawwanah from Malik: "There is nothing upon him, and let him marry four." There is no harm in acting upon this opinion, and it is not obligatory to act upon the opinion of Imam Abu Hanifa on this matter.
