Why were the angels commanded to prostrate to Adam, even though Iblis was one of the jinn, and how was the command directed to him?

Allah's command to prostrate to Adam did not exclusively target the angels, but also included Iblis, because he was addressed along with them and was encompassed by the command to prostrate, despite the difference in his origin from that of the angels. He was condemned for his disobedience to this command.
