Doing good is an obligation, and enjoining it is another obligation; neither is dropped by abandoning the other. The Quranic verse and the Hadith condemn the disobedient person for committing evil while knowing it, not for enjoining good while abandoning it himself. Enjoining good is an obligation even if you do not practice it. Disclosing your sin to the one you are forbidding it from is another sin; in fact, concealing one's own sins is obligatory. One must hasten to repent from sins, especially sins committed in private, for challenging God in such acts causes a person to fall from His regard.
