What is the ruling on the divorce of a husband who was coerced into divorcing his wife, what is the punishment for the one who coerced him into it, what is the punishment for the husband himself, to whom does the custody of the child go after the parents remarry, and does the child remain with his mother if she marries in her parents' house?

If a man divorces his wife to please his mother, and not out of fear of a considerable harm, then his divorce is binding. It is not obligatory to obey the mother in requesting a divorce without a legitimate Shar'i justification, because obedience is only in what is good and lawful. It is not permissible for the mother to ask her son to divorce his wife without a legitimate Shar'i justification, due to the harm it causes to the son and his wife, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There should be no harm nor reciprocating harm."
