What is the ruling on sitting alone at home, glorifying God with prayer beads, without anyone knowing?

There is no harm in using prayer beads (tasbih) for glorification (tasbih), though it is better to count glorifications on one's hand. For a person to seclude himself to remember Allah is among the best deeds. Among the seven whom Allah will shade with His shade on the Day when there is no shade but His is: "a man who remembered Allah in solitude, and his eyes overflowed with tears." This indicates the virtue of weeping out of fear of Allah and the virtue of secret acts of obedience. Al-Hasan mentioned that the best remembrance is remembering Allah when faced with something forbidden by Allah.
