Is the name "Naila" forbidden by Islamic law, or is there no objection to naming with it?

There is no objection to naming a child "Nai'lah," as it is a well-known name among the Salaf (pious predecessors) and was borne by several female Companions, such as Nai'lah bint Salamah al-Ansariyyah, Nai'lah bint Sa'd, and Nai'lah bint al-Farafishah, the wife of Uthman ibn Affan.

The name is derived from "al-Nawal," which means "giving" or "bestowal." It is mentioned in Sahih Muslim that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "And I have reserved my supplication as intercession for my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection, and it will reach (Nai'lah) - Allah willing - whoever dies from my Ummah not associating anything with Allah." Here, "Nai'lah" means "reaching" or "encompassing."

The fact that an idol was named by this name does not preclude its use, for the criterion is what the Shari'ah has prohibited. This name is permissible according to both religious law and linguistic convention.
