What is the share of the son's son and the daughter in inheritance?

If the deceased leaves behind only a daughter and a grandson (son of a son), the daughter receives half as a prescribed share (fard), based on the Almighty's saying: "{And if there is only one, she receives half}." The remaining half goes to the grandson by way of ta'sib (residuary heirship), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them; what remains is for the closest male heir." Thus, the inheritance is divided into two shares: one share for the daughter and one share for the grandson. It is advisable to refer inheritance matters to Sharia courts to verify the existence of other heirs, wills, or debts that take precedence over the heirs' rights.
