What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding Dr. Mustafa Mahmud's denial of the punishment of the grave, citing Allah's saying: "The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening"?

The torment and bliss of the grave, and the questioning by the two angels, are matters that the people of Sunnah and Jama'ah have agreed upon to affirm. The evidence for this from the Holy Quran includes:

1. The Almighty's saying: (The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening; and the Day the Hour is established, [it will be said], "Admit the people of Pharaoh to the severest torment.") (Quran 40:46), which proves the torment of the grave before the Hour is established. 2. And His saying, the Almighty: (This Day you will be recompensed with the torment of humiliation.) (Quran 6:93), which proves torment at the time of death. 3. And His saying, the Almighty: (And indeed, for those who have wronged there will be a torment short of that.) (Quran 52:47), which proves the first torment, which is the torment of the grave. 4. And His saying, the Almighty: (We will punish them twice then they will be returned to a great torment.) (Quran 9:101), which proves the torment of the grave as a second torment after the torment of this world.

And from the Prophetic Sunnah:

1. The Prophet, peace be upon him, passing by two graves and their inhabitants being tormented due to not purifying themselves from urine and backbiting. 2. His saying, peace be upon him: "Indeed, this Ummah will be tested in their graves." 3. His command to seek refuge from the torment of the grave in the last tashahhud.

These reports have reached the level of tawatur, and it is obligatory to believe in and affirm them without delving into their modality.
