Is it necessary to repeat the expiatory fasting for an oath (kaffarat al-yameen) for someone who fasted two days and stopped on the third day due to illness?

Fasting is not sufficient for expiation unless one is unable to feed ten poor people, or clothe them, or free a slave. Fasting the three days consecutively is obligatory according to Imam Ahmad and Abu Hanifa, and recommended according to Malik and Shafi'i in one narration. If the continuity is broken due to illness, this has no effect; rather, the one who broke the oath should fast one day in place of the day he missed due to illness. He is required to make up the day he missed due to illness, and he is not obligated to restart the fasting from the beginning, although it is more cautious to restart the fasting from the beginning to avoid the difference of opinion among scholars.
