Is it permissible for a wife to sever ties with her family and treat them poorly to please her husband, knowing that her divorce would be irrevocable?
The husband has erred in two ways: first, by interfering in matters that do not concern him by preventing his wife from disposing of her own money; second, by ordering her to cut ties with her family and threatening her with divorce if she does not insult them. There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. It is recommended to advise him, remind him of Allah, strive to avoid divorce, and exercise wisdom in resolving the issue with the brother-in-law, while emphasizing the obligation for the capable brother-in-law to repay his debt, and that the ruling of a judge does not make the unlawful lawful, and that the father must repent from bearing false witness.
