Is a man's ritual purity (ṭahāra) nullified by touching his menstruating wife, and are her belongings considered impure during her period?

The preponderant view is that merely touching a woman's skin does not nullify ablution unless madhy (pre-seminal fluid) is discharged. There is no difference between a menstruating wife and a pure one. As for avoiding the belongings of a menstruating woman and considering her impure, that is the practice of extremist Jews. Our Islamic religion came with ease, permitting interaction with a menstruating woman and enjoying her in ways that do not involve intercourse. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would caress his wives while they were menstruating, and he would recite the Qur'an while reclining in 'A'ishah's lap when she was menstruating. He would also drink from the spot where her mouth touched while she was menstruating, which indicates the purity of a menstruating woman's body.
