Is it permissible to use medications containing narcotics or alcohol in varying proportions to alleviate pain after surgeries and in different pain conditions?

There is no harm in using pain-relieving medications before and after surgeries to alleviate the patient's pain, as long as these medications are not intoxicants, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whatever intoxicates in large quantities, a small quantity of it is unlawful."
