What should a wife do if she was unable to join her husband, who resides in France, because her father refused to let her travel?

The default is for a woman to reside with her husband wherever he resides, as long as he is trustworthy and provides her with suitable housing. A father does not have the right to prevent his daughter from traveling with her husband unless he fears harm to her from the husband or from the travel. If the father's prohibition is due to his fear of apparent harm, then obedience to him is obligatory. However, if the prohibition is without a valid reason, then he has no right in that and no obedience is due to him; rather, obedience to the husband is obligatory, while still showing filial piety to the father.
