A man died, leaving behind only his mother and full brother. What is the share of each of them?

The mother receives one-third due to the absence of a direct descendant and the presence of a number of siblings, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if he has no child and his parents inherit him, then his mother has one-third." What remains after the mother's share is for the full brother by way of 'asaba (agnatic inheritance), as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Give the prescribed shares to those who are entitled to them, and whatever remains is for the closest male relative." The inheritance is divided into three shares: one share for the mother, and two shares for the full brother.
