What is the meaning of "I fear for you abundance" in the noble Hadith?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The proliferation that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, feared for his nation is the competition for worldly debris and everyone's desire to have more than the other in matters that bring no benefit to him and do not draw him closer to God. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that money was created for establishing prayer and paying zakat, and that the son of Adam will never be satisfied with wealth except with dust. He also explained that a person's true wealth is what he ate and consumed, or wore and wore out, or gave in charity and sent forth. The prohibition of proliferation is not an invitation to abandon earning, but rather the intent is that earning should be a means of obeying God and benefiting people.
