What is the meaning of: "And you devour the inheritance with a devouring of a multitude"?

The meaning of the noble verse: "And you devour inheritance with a devouring of vast consumption" is that people consume inheritance with extreme consumption, leaving nothing of it. The reason for this is that the people of the جاهلية (pre-Islamic era of ignorance) used to oppress the weak and consume their wealth; they would not allow women or children to inherit and would consume their shares. It is also said that "devouring of vast consumption" refers to one who consumes everything he finds without questioning whether it is lawful or unlawful, thus consuming his share and the share of others.
