Working in folk arts as a journalist and news writer, if it involves forbidden acts such as mixed dancing, adornment (تبرج), the display of women's charms, and the presence of musical instruments, is unlawful (haram). The questioner must leave this job and seek a lawful (halal) one, for whoever abandons something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better. Lawful sustenance (rizq) is not attained through disobeying Allah.
