The question

Is there a religious reward for agreeing to the residence of the husband's brothers in the marital apartment, despite the hardship it causes? And how can a woman strive against her own inclinations to accept this matter? Do the husband's brothers have the right to reside in their brother's apartment, and does his mother have the right to be angry when the bedroom door is closed?

The answer

The husband has the right to dispose of his apartment, which he owns. However, no one is permitted to use the wife's private belongings without her permission, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The property of a Muslim person is not lawful [to take] except with his willing consent." If the wife patiently endures the use of her belongings without her consent, she will be rewarded for her patience. If the wife's father contributed to furnishing the apartment and it was not a donation, then he has a share in the furniture, and the husband is not permitted to authorize its disposal without the wife's father's consent. It is advised to be patient, to seek understanding, and to remember Allah. The wife is permitted to lock her private room if it is necessary to protect her belongings.
