Do the deeds of the deceased cease, or do sins reach him in the grave?

"When a person dies, their deeds cease except for what the texts have indicated will reach them, such as righteous deeds dedicated to them, ongoing charity, and beneficial knowledge they taught to people. This is indicated by the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: 'When a person dies, all his deeds cease except for three: an ongoing charity, or knowledge from which others benefit, or a righteous child who prays for him.' Likewise, what a person establishes during their life in terms of good or bad practices, they will receive its reward or burden from those who act upon it after them, due to the saying of Allah the Almighty: 'Indeed, We are We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and their traces [their effects]; and all things We have enumerated in a clear register.' And the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: 'Whoever establishes a good practice in Islam will have its reward and the reward of whoever acts upon it after him... And whoever establishes a bad practice in Islam will bear its sin and the sin of whoever acts upon it after him.'"
