Is it permissible to volunteer and participate in an association that cares for orphans, disabled people, and children born out of wedlock, or is it sufficient to provide financial aid?

Islam encourages doing good to every needy being, even animals. The principle "In every moist liver there is a reward" includes everyone, even children born out of wedlock. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, took care of a child born out of wedlock and commanded that he be provided for, which confirms that the right to care should not be denied to any child.
