Scholars have clarified that the meat of the People of the Book is permissible, and there is no harm in adopting this opinion. Its permissibility is further confirmed if the responsible authorities in the Muslim country, after their investigation and verification, inform that the meat fulfills the conditions of lawful slaughter (dhakāh shar'iyyah). A Muslim is allowed to follow those who permitted its consumption and to rely on the information provided by the responsible authorities.
