Must a man stop intercourse immediately upon hearing the adhan, then perform ghusl and wudu and go directly to the mosque, or is he permitted to complete intercourse and pray later?

If a man hears the Adhan (call to prayer) while he is intimate with his wife, he is not obligated to stop the intercourse. Rather, he should continue until he has fulfilled his need, then perform ghusl (ritual bath), and pray. If he misses the congregational prayer, he should pray with his wife at home. This is because interrupting intercourse harms the wife and distracts the man from focusing on his prayer. It was narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: "If the evening meal is served and the prayer is established, begin with the meal, and do not rush until you have finished it." And the desire for intimacy is greater than the desire for food. However, it is not permissible to deliberately do this to miss the congregational prayer; whoever does so intentionally is sinful.
