What should a couple do when the time for prayer begins while they are engaged in intercourse or foreplay, whether or not madhy (pre-seminal fluid) has been discharged? And must they stop immediately upon hearing the adhan? And what is the ruling concerning semen and madhy on clothing?

Congregational prayer is obligatory for a man unless there is a valid excuse. Some scholars have made it obligatory to perform it in the mosque. If there is ample time to complete intercourse, perform ghusl (ritual bath), and pray, then there is no harm. Similarly, if one desires intercourse before the adhan (call to prayer), it should be prioritized over prayer, by analogy with prioritizing food when it is presented. If a person is engaged in intercourse when the adhan is called, he is not required to stop or to repeat the adhan, because stopping might harm him, and because a person engaged in intercourse or relieving himself is not required to do so. If he finishes and can purify himself and attend the congregational prayer, he should do so; otherwise, he should pray with his family.

As for madhi (pre-seminal fluid), if it is discharged without penetration, one should wash the affected area and perform wudu' (ablution). If penetration occurs or mani (semen) is discharged, then ghusl is obligatory, and the soiled clothes must be washed. There is no comparison between intercourse and listening to unlawful music. Music that contains musical instruments or indecency is absolutely forbidden at any time. The prohibition is increased if it leads to missing prayers, due to the Almighty’s saying: ﴿And among the people is he who buys idle talk to mislead from the path of Allah without knowledge﴾ [Luqman: 6]. Some scholars have interpreted "idle talk" as singing.
