Does one's conscience become clear after helping to purchase and install a television that is used to watch things displeasing to Allah, with repentance and an attempt to delete channels and indirectly inform family members that watching movies is impermissible?

The questioner is congratulated on his repentance. He should strive to convince his family to refrain from watching forbidden things on television and to use it only for what is permissible. If he does what is within his means, he will not be held accountable for their actions as long as he has repented. Scholars have stated that repentance is accepted and the lingering effect of the sin does not harm it. They likened this to someone who repents from spreading an innovation.

The author of "Al-Maraqi" said: "He who repents after committing the cause has fulfilled what was incumbent upon him. And if its corruption remains, like one who retracted from spreading an innovation that is followed."
