How can one be absolved from the rights of people concerning backbiting (gheebah) and slander (nameemah), especially in cases where one cannot reach those they backbit, or has forgotten them, or cannot confront them? And what about backbiting a deceased person and how to be absolved from it?

"Releasing oneself from the rights of others (Huquq al-Ibad) is achieved by seeking their forgiveness and returning any injustices to them, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: 'Whoever has wronged his brother concerning his honor or anything else, let him seek his forgiveness today before there will be no Dinar or Dirham. If he has good deeds, they will be taken from him proportionate to his wrongdoing; and if he has no good deeds, then some of the sins of his wronged companion will be taken and placed upon him.'

As for backbiting (Gheebah) and tale-bearing (Namimah) against someone who has passed away, or against someone whom the person cannot confront, or if seeking forgiveness from them would lead to a greater harm, then it suffices to frequently supplicate for them in their absence and to mention their good qualities in the same gatherings where they were previously spoken of ill."
