Is expiation obligatory upon one who swore falsely while changing the intention to justify the oath?

The basic principle concerning an oath is that it is judged by the intention of the one swearing it, unless it entails a right for another party. In that case, it is judged by the intention of the one for whom the oath is sworn. This is based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Indeed, every person will have what he intended," and his saying: "The oath is judged by the intention of the one who administers it." So, if the one for whom the oath is sworn has no right, and the one swearing the oath intended something other than the apparent meaning of his words, then there is no expiation due upon him.
