Is it better to pray in congregation with one's family—even if it is much delayed—or to pray alone on time?

Congregational prayer for women is a Sunnah according to many scholars. It is recommended for them to pray in congregation, separate from men, whether led by a man or a woman, due to the actions of 'Aisha and Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with them), and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) command to Umm Waraqah to lead the people of her household in prayer. It is preferable for a woman to pray individually at the beginning of the time and then pray with the congregation at its end, or to delay the prayer to attain the virtue of congregational prayer.
