The answer

The awakening of conscience and feeling pain from committing sins is a sign of a living heart. Avoiding listening to music and backbiting, and regretting them, is not extremism but an obligation. There is a difference between blameworthy extremism and praiseworthy piety. Watching anime with legal (Sharia) controls is permissible, but it is better for a person to busy themselves with what is more beneficial for their religious and worldly affairs. We advise you to remain steadfast in your resolve and strength in Allah's religion. There is no harm in entertaining yourself with permissible things, with the intention of gaining strength to obey Allah.
