What is the ruling on a Muslim pharmacist working in Germany selling medicines that contain alcohol or gelatin derived from pork, knowing that he will sell to Muslims only what is free of these materials, and does that affect the ruling on his salary?

Some medicines contain a proportion of alcohol or gelatin. The Islamic Fiqh Academy recommends avoiding alcohol in medicines as much as possible, and it permits the use of medicines containing alcohol in consumed proportions when there is no alternative. The transformation of alcohol or gelatin during manufacturing changes the ruling, and if their proportion is small such that their effect is not apparent, there is no harm in using the medicine. Similarly, it is permissible to use medicine containing a forbidden substance if there is no permissible alternative that can take its place. If their use is permissible, then their sale is also permissible.
