What is the authenticity of the claim that the people of Madinah will abandon it at the end of time, and will two shepherds die before entering it?

This matter is true and will occur, as narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim with the wording: "You will leave Medina in its best state, and nothing will dwell there but predators (meaning wild beasts and birds). The last to be gathered will be two shepherds from Muzainah, heading towards Medina, calling out to their sheep, and they will find it desolate. Until they reach Thaniyat Al-Wada', they will fall prostrate on their faces."
