Is it permissible to marry a girl and have the marriage contract (aqd al-qiran) done both religiously and civilly, while postponing the wedding ceremony and consummation for three years, with the aim of legitimizing the relationship and speaking with her as a wife, or must one wait until completing studies and securing a material income?

"There is no harm in agreeing to postpone the consummation of the marriage and delay the wedding ceremony. If the girl is religious and of good character, be keen to marry her, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Succeed with the one who is religious, may your hands be dusted with dust (a supplication for success).' If the legitimate contract is concluded, she becomes your wife. It is permissible to speak with her and for there to be an emotional relationship between you, and other such things that are forbidden with a woman who is not a mahram. Hastening to complete the marriage is better due to the benefits it contains, such as chastity and progeny."
