The scholars inferred the virtue of dying on a Monday from the narration of Aisha, reported by Al-Bukhari, where Abu Bakr asked Aisha about the day of the Prophet's death, peace and blessings be upon him, and she replied: "Monday." Then Abu Bakr wished to die on the same day, and his garment was washed to be used as a shroud along with two other garments. He passed away on Tuesday night and was buried before dawn. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, quoting Al-Zayn bin Al-Munir, indicated that choosing the time of death is not in anyone's hands, but causing it might be through a desire directed towards Allah.
