What is the Sharia ruling on the "end-of-service bonus" money received by a person who left his job at a media institution due to the commingling of presented materials, and is zakat obligatory on it, knowing that it was not in his possession until after leaving the job?

If working in a media organization involves permissible activities, such as filming religious lessons or news reports, then the salary and end-of-service gratuity are permissible. Zakat (definition) becomes obligatory on them after a full year if they reach the [Zakat] threshold. However, if the work involves impermissible activities, such as filming lewd scenes or forbidden songs, then it is not permissible to benefit from the salary and gratuity. Rather, one must dispose of them by spending them on charitable causes. If the work combines both permissible and impermissible matters, then the individual is entitled to a portion of the salary and gratuity proportionate to the permissible activities, and must dispose of the remainder by spending it on charitable causes. It is permissible for the individual to take from it what is sufficient for their needs.
