Can smooth surfaces be purified by wiping, especially those that would be damaged by washing or would spread impurity? Is considering this opinion an sinful act of making things easy? And is impurity transferred by touching a smooth surface if it can be purified by wiping?

Purifying smooth surfaces by wiping is permissible. This is the choice of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and the preferred view of Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, especially for devices that are feared to be damaged [by washing]. If a smooth object is wiped and deemed pure, then no impurity will transfer from it to anything else.
