Is it permissible to give a portion of the zakat money received for distribution to the needy to one's mother, knowing that she is already being provided for?

The beneficiaries of zakat are legally specified for the poor, the needy, and those who collect it. It is not permissible for the rich, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no share in it for the rich nor for the strong able-bodied." So, if your mother is wealthy due to your obligatory spending on her, it is not permissible to give her from zakat. However, if you are poor and your mother is also poor, then it is permissible for you to give her from it.
