The answer

There is no zakat on acquired wristwatches, and it is not forbidden to acquire or wear them unless they are plated with gold. As for gold-plated watches, the majority of scholars forbid them for men because they are considered to be a use of gold. Zakat is obligatory on this gold if an amount reaching the nisab can be collected from it, either by itself or by adding it to other wealth. However, if the gold is consumed such that nothing can be collected from it, then there is no zakat on it.
