If it becomes clear that a shop sells stolen goods, it is not permissible to buy from it, because a stolen item is not owned by the thief. Buying is forbidden if the buyer is certain that the goods are stolen, because it constitutes cooperation in sin and transgression, and deprives the true owner of their goods. Whoever buys goods knowing they are stolen must return them and take back their money, as the sale is invalid. However, if the buyer doubts whether the goods are stolen and is not certain, they are not obliged to return them, because the original presumption is the validity of the sale.
