What is the ruling on divorcing a wife who causes many problems with the family and who urges her husband to cut ties with his parents, despite her commitment and the husband's futile attempts to reform her, and with her mother negatively influencing her?

Divorce is permissible when there is a need for it due to the wife's bad character, poor companionship, and harm caused by her. However, it should not be resorted to unless all means of reconciliation have been exhausted. The husband is advised not to rush into divorcing his wife, but rather to be patient with her and strive to reform her through legitimate means. He should not give in to her desire to cut ties with his family. Furthermore, he should not overlook the good aspects of his wife's character, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another."
