To what extent is it true that the wisdom behind the death of the Messenger's sons, peace and blessings be upon him, is that they were prophets, and that the Messenger is the Seal of the Prophets? And to what extent is the hadith true which states that the Messenger sought his Lord's permission to visit his mother's grave and was granted it, but then sought permission to ask for her forgiveness and was refused, and that Allah sends prophets to test those who died before prophethood?

It is incorrect to generalize that the sons of prophets become prophets, as is clear in the case of the Prophet Noah, peace be upon him. Had Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, lived, he would have been a truthful prophet (Siddiq Nabiyya), and authentic narrations have confirmed this. However, there is no prophet after Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. What is mentioned about Allah Almighty sending prophets to the people of the fatrah (people who lived between two prophets) on the Day of Judgment is incorrect; rather, they will be tested by entering the Fire.
