Is it permissible to name mosques after individuals, and why do Islamic authorities not rectify this and name them after Allah, Exalted and Glorified is He?

Mosques are the houses of Allah, and Allah has attributed them to Himself as an honor. Nevertheless, there is no impediment to attributing them to other than Allah for the purpose of identification, such as saying "so-and-so's mosque." An example of this is the attribution of the Prophet's Mosque to the Prophet, peace be upon him, in his saying: "A prayer in this mosque of mine is better than a thousand prayers in any other mosque, except Al-Masjid Al-Haram." It is permissible to attribute mosques to individuals and tribes for identification.
