What is the ruling on the Hajj of someone who borrowed from a company to perform the obligatory Hajj, while also having other debts?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah has made Hajj obligatory for the one who is able, and debts are included in financial ability. Therefore, it is not permissible to delay paying off a debt for someone who has the means to settle it. So, whoever possesses money that is insufficient to pay off his debt and perform Hajj simultaneously, he is not considered able. If he wishes to perform Hajj, he must inform his creditors and seek their permission. His Hajj will be valid, even if he incurs sin for the delay. As for deferred debts whose due date has not yet arrived, there is no harm in performing Hajj while they exist. It is permissible for a person to borrow money for Hajj.
